A Call to Fatherhood

I've just begun shooting a new documentary with Debby Takikawa, with whom I made What Babies Want, the award-winning feature documentary about birth and babies.

We're making a follow-up, about fathers and fatherhood, tentatively entitled "A Call to Fatherhood." We started shooting last week, and, I would suspect we'll be shooting into the Spring.

I'm the Producer/Director of Photography/Editor of the project. It's fantastically exciting for me to work with Debby again, and I think we have the potential to make something that can really change people's lives for the better. Even the little bit we've shot so far gets me really excited.

Stay tuned for more updates as the project progresses!

This sounds great! Im actually expecting to become a father TOMORROW!!! When completed I can view it to an audience of Latino youth in NYC & also Latino fathers who are still clueless of their role as fathers & men in general. We are having a serious problem with our youth growing up with no elders to guide them into their own manhood or fatherhood. I look forward to learning more about your project. Good Luck

Thanks so much. I took a look at your blog - great work.

We definitely see the documentary both about the call that men have to be fathers, but also that the documentary itself is making a kind of call to prospective fathers.

We've just started shooting, but I'm really excited about the project. I think the dads we're interviewing will just continue to amaze us.

Sounds like a great project--particularly the idea of fatherhood as a call. I am a new dad of a 14 month old, and have been working to live into this calling, in part by chronicling the journey at: http://dadtoday.blogspot.com.
