The lives of legendary pirates — Francis Drake, Henry Morgan, Captain Kidd, Blackbeard and the Irish pirate Grace O'Malley — told through dramatic re-enactment by the seventeenth-century buccaneer William Dampier.

A documentary miniseries produced for TBS, Pirate Tales was David's first professional filmmaking job. He worked as second assistant director, shooting aboard seventeenth-century ships and at historic locations across Virginia and Connecticut. Roger Daltrey of The Who stars as the narrator.
