Identity

A short film about LGBTQ+ middle and high schoolers, with stories drawn from the lives of the students who act in it.

Made through Revealing Media Group as part of the Kids Matter initiative, Identity was written by Adria Dawn and directed by Adria and David Tarleton. The students acted in the film and were deeply involved in its development, shaping a story inspired by their own experiences. It went on to a Chicago/Midwest Emmy nomination for Outstanding Achievement in programming for children and youth, and is shown in classrooms and libraries across the country.

The film exemplifies the way David and Adria Dawn work: the set becomes a classroom, and the young people whose stories are being told help tell them.
